HOW DO YOU DO EMDR VIA TELETHERAPY?
Great question. When the pandemic happened the need for therapists, especially EMDR therapists skyrocketed. What had been an unusual occurrence, online emdr therapy, became commonplace. A few wonderful resources stepped in to help clinicians deliver services. A year or two into the pandemic a handful of studies came out showing that online/virtual emdr was as effective as in person. This did not surprise me because this was my experience of using it during the pandemic. It works great and is incredibly effective.
Not only is EMDR as effective online, you don't have to take the time to drive to an office, you can access ANY therapist in the state that you connect with, and you are in the privacy of your own home so after your session you can decompress.
I work with two different resources to deliver services.
REMOTEMDR: www.remotemdr.com is a secure teletherapy platform that works like a video chat plus it delivers EMDR bi-lateral stimulation (BLS), the cornerstone of EMDR. Each client gets their own remotEMDR link they log onto for each session. If you can stream a move on netflix, you have enough bandwidth to do EMDR online.
Bi-tapp: while tappers are not required some clients choose to purchase them. Bi-tapp tappers can be synced with remotEMDR so I can control them during our sessions. The tappers are yours to keep and utilize between sessions for anxiety, insomnia, relaxation, meditation or other self-care. You can find out more at www.bi-tapp.com and use my affiliate code Lindsey20 for $20 off if you wish to purchase a set for your personal use or during sessions.
